Hunter Douglas Pirouette® Sheer Shades near Wichita, Kansas (KS)

Many clients who ask us to compare two our most popular sheers, Hunter Douglas Luminette® Sheer Panels and Pirouette® Sheer Shades, and we’re always delighted to help our clients choose which option will work best for them.

Hunter Douglas Pirouette® & Luminette® Sheers Have Some Similarities

Hunter Douglas Pirouette® Sheer Shades and Luminette® Sheer Panels are unique combinations of sheer fabric panels and opaque vanes that work in tandem to create unique and practical lighting solutions for any space. They both come in an impressive, sophisticated variety of textures, colors, and fabrics that gently filter the light for a radiant effect. They provide UV protection for your furnishings and are available with upgrades like PowerView® automation. These styles also come with the Hunter Douglas Lifetime Limited Warranty and are both well-suited for patios, sunrooms, living rooms, bedrooms, and dining areas.

Next, let’s see what differentiates these two luxury window treatments.

Hunter Douglas Luminette® Sheer Shades

Hunter Douglas Luminette® Sheer Panels were names Window Covering Manufacturers Association’s (WCMA) 2022 Product of the Year, chosen for their outstanding innovation and design.

This vertical window covering works beautifully on large windows and sliding glass doors. Their innovative design combines the beauty of sheer drapery with the functionality of vertical blinds, with a soft, radiant glow. The sheers have integrated, rotating fabric vanes attached to a sheer backing that provides 180 degrees of light control.

The fabric vanes measure 3½” and move gently within UV-protective fabrics, including refined weaes from the Alustra Collection® of fabrics. We can customize these sheer shades to fit 8” to 192” wide and 24” to 120” high windows and glass doors. Luminette® Sheer Panels work well on expansive windows, French doors, patio and sliding-glass doors, and single doors.

Hunter Douglas Pirouette® Sheer Shades

Named after the graceful ballet move, Pirouette® Sheer Shades are a horizontal window covering with a sculptural, elegant feel. Hunter Douglas designed them with soft 4” or 5” fabric vanes attached to a single sheer panel. You can tilt the vanes to different angles for exceptional light and privacy control.

Pirouette® Sheer Shades fit windows measuring 12” to 144” wide and 15” to 144” high. We can enhance them with ClearView® sheers, Alustra® exclusive fabrics, and other upgrades like PowerView® Automation.

Deciding Between Hunter Douglas Luminette® vs Pirouette® Sheers

The answer here is not as complicated as you might expect:

  • Luminette® Sheer Panels are ideal for more oversized windows and sliding glass doors where maximum light control and outdoor views are needed. Our clients often order them for patio doors, sliding glass doors, and French doors.
  • Pirouette® Sheer Shades are best suited for smaller windows in living spaces where style and versatility are essential. These shades can accommodate a broader range of window sizes and shapes, such as arches, angles, and bay windows.
