How to Cover Uniquely Shaped Windows
A non-traditional-shaped window can be a beautiful part of your home. They add character, curb appeal to the outside, and a fun and unique view from the inside. However, they can also present a challenge when finding a window covering. Traditional shades, curtains, and blinds aren’t made to fit round or hexagonal windows. Even arches and sunburst windows can present a difficult challenge to cover. At Jackie & Bill’s Drapery & Interiors, we can help take that stress away as we offer several Hunter Douglas windows covering options for even the most oddly shaped windows.
Bay Windows & Angled Windows
These windows are the closest to traditional square and rectangular windows, but they still present unique challenges. Angled windows don’t have square corners for a headrail to rest in, and bay windows meet at an angle that makes it difficult for two window treatments to fit. However, we have several solutions that will fit these windows perfectly. Vertical blinds are a great option for both of these window shapes, and Somner® Custom Vertical Blinds offer several opacity options to choose from. Duette® Honeycomb Shades can also be custom fit to provide complete coverage and added energy efficiency to these types of windows.
Arched Windows
Often placed above a traditional window, these aesthetic arches can allow sunlight while maintaining privacy. When it comes to covering them, we have several recommendations. Cellular shades like Duette® Honeycomb Shades are a lovely option that easily operates with the EasyView® Arch Feature. All of our Hunter Douglas blinds can also be custom cut to fit in an arched window and will perfectly match the other blinds in your home. If you want to step up the look of your windows, then Shutters might be the best choice. They can run horizontally like blinds, or they can be designed in a sunburst pattern that follows the shape of the arch.
